Inspiration for a real (vintage) feel-good Christmas

Tis the season to be jolly, falala… It’s that wonderful time of the year when Christmas is (almost 😉) upon us! A time to enjoy great food, classic Christmas movies and quality time with your loved ones. I’m super excited, so I put on some classic Christmas records and collected a few tips for the most wonderful time of the year that I want to share with you. Feliz Navidad!

“Merry Christmas, you filthy animal!”
In need of some holiday cheer? Cuddle up with a warm blanket, a mug of hot chocolate and start watching those classic Christmas movies. After all, there’s not a dry eye in the house when Prince Charming and the girl next door finally get together at the end of the movie. Sissi (1955) is one of those classic tearjerkers. And those outfits?! Fa-bu-lous! Another nostalgic must-see is Meet Me in St. Louis (1944) starring the stunning Judy Garland. If you love musical films, you should definitely watch this one. But let’s be honest, even though we keep promising ourselves that we won’t be watching it this year, Christmas just wouldn’t be Christmas without Home Alone (1990).

“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!”
You know that the festive season is upon us  when as soon as you walk into a store you hear “It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year” playing in the background. Doesn’t that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside?! So, why not create your own playlist of classic Christmas songs? Songs guaranteed to put you in a festive mood 😉. Don’t forget to add the real classics like “Sleigh Ride”, “It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year” & “Santa Baby”.

Get dressed up to get messed up
Getting in the Christmas spirit is one thing, but finding the right outfit to wear is just as important. I love going all-out for Christmas. Glitter, sequins: it is the season to sparkle after all! Of course, we have some wonderful glitter items in our collection. No fan of glitter? Why not opt for stylish velvet instead? Or maybe you would prefer the ultimate vintage Christmas look? Then a tartan check pattern might be perfect for you.

May your Christmas be as flawless as your make-up
Of course, your Christmas outfit is important, but your festive look simply won’t be complete without the right make-up and hair style. Christmas is the perfect excuse to add some extra glam to your look. Why not try a bright red lip or amping up the drama of your smoky eye look with some false lashes? I have so many pictures of great hair styles pinned to my Pinterest board. Perfect for a little inspiration. My ultimate Christmas hairstyle? A pretty vintage updo or classic victory rolls.

“In a world full of Grinches, be a Cindy Lou Who”
There is nothing cosier than a house decorated for Christmas. The glow of Christmas lights, candles and the smell of pine tree. Don’t have enough room for a Christmas tree? No worries, there are plenty of alternatives! Why not hang a bunch of mistletoe in your house, because we all know: “what happens under the mistletoe stays under the mistletoe 😉”.  Another way of making your house even more welcoming during the festive season is a classic Christmas ornament wreath on the front door. And it’s even more fun to make your own. Maybe your grandmother or great-aunt have some real vintage Christmas baubles that you could use?

Christmas rule: if someone comments on your weight, eat them! 😊
Christmas is also about sharing food with your loved ones. So, put on some Christmas music and get out your baking tools and supplies; it’s time get your bake on! My favourite Christmas snack: gingerbread cookies. An absolute treat and so much fun to decorate. And while you’re busy baking, you might as well enjoy a delicious hot chocolate. Even more yummy with lots of whipped cream and marshmallows on top!

Gonna go lay under the tree to remind my family that I am a gift
Of course, Christmas is all about spending quality time with your family and friends, but there is no denying that gifts make everything even more fun. Still looking for the perfect gift for the people on your holiday shopping list? In our webshop you’ll find the best gifts for women ánd men.
